Simulated image of the sky centered on the position of the first
observation. The GALEX field of view (in black)
is superimposed at the center of the image. Additional
user-submitted observations (outlined in blue),
science targets within those observations (outlined in
red), stars brighter than 30,000 counts sec-1
(in blue diagonal hatch), stars fainter than
30,000 counts sec-1 (in green) are
also shown. When the option to display archival observations is selected,
the field and name will appear (in magenta)
on the plot. The intensity of the diffuse galactic light in the image
has been enhanced to maximize the contrast within the region plotted.
Potential violations from stars within the field of view (red dashed outline), observations that have shutdown the detectors in the past (in red diagonal hatch), and exclusion regions such as the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) (in blue perpindicular hatch) may appear. Consult the brightness checker for more information on any stars within the field of view that are in violation.
