The SGP4 propagator and a recent NORAD Two-Line Element (TLE) set are used to generate predicted postions of the GALEX telescope at selected eclipses during the time period shown on the plot. The angle between a fixed position on the sky and each of the celestial bodies selected by the user is computed for an observer centered at each position in the sampled ephemeris. For detector safety reasons, GALEX cannot be used to observe a position on the sky when the angle between that position and one of the celestial bodies is less than some threshold known as the 'Avoidance Angle'. The values of the 'Avoidance Angle' for each body are superimposed on the plot as a dashed line.
